Individuals (Adolescents 12-17/Adults), Couples, or Family
What should I expect? During the initial session, we will take the time to get to know each other. I fully expect clients to be “testing the waters” so to speak, and am open to answering questions to help you feel comfortable making a decision of whether or not to begin a working relationship with me. I will also want to hear about you and what has motivated you to seek counseling. I may employ a variety of tools to aid in our exploration of the issues you bring forward. These may include questionnaires, activities and exercises aimed at helping you to relax and focus on what is important to you in the work we begin.
We will work together to develop goals for the work we do together. A typical session will begin with a relaxation exercise, followed by a review of what’s happened since the previous session, a review of goals and progress towards them, and a discussion about next steps and commitments. I am a firm believer that much of the critical work towards change occurs between sessions and we will discuss ways you can make the most of that time to facilitate movement towards your goals.
*An initial in-office visit may be required prior to meeting in an alternative location. Separate fees may apply for out-of-office locations. Online Live Chat and Teleconference services are under development and all clients will be notified once they become available.
